Brain Dump + Organize Routine

A step-by-step guide to clear mental overload and rebuild it into an executable today list.

Three Rules to Keep It Simple

Brain dump fails when it gets complicated. Keep the structure short and explicit.

Empty your head first

Brain dump is not about perfect planning. It is about reducing cognitive pressure first.

Sort into today/week/later

A quick 3-bucket sort right after dumping massively increases execution clarity.

Promote one A task

Do not optimize everything at once. Start by lifting one must-finish task to A.

Execution Sequence

On day one, this sequence is enough. Speed compounds from day two.

  1. STEP 1

    Run a 5-minute dump

Write tasks quickly without evaluating quality. Keep it rough and fast.

    • Do not remove duplicates yet.
    • Include small tasks too to reduce hidden stress.
  2. STEP 2

    Sort into today/week/later

Simple time-based sorting is enough to recover clarity.

    • Keep today's bucket between 3 and 6 tasks.
    • Use the week bucket as a review pool.
  3. STEP 3

    Schedule one A block

Move directly into Time View and reserve execution time for your top task.

    • Place A where your energy is highest.
    • Keep the rest in B/C and review midday.

Follow Along with Screens

Follow the real flow from brain dump to today's executable list.

Refine dumped notes into executable task names and priorities.
Use mobile daily view to clean up today's execution list after dump.

Common Mistakes

  • Dumping tasks but skipping sorting
  • Putting almost everything into today's bucket
  • Creating too many A tasks and starting none

Recovery Steps

  • Run a 3-minute sort immediately after dumping.
  • If today's list exceeds six tasks, move lower-priority items to week.
  • Keep one A task and lower the rest to B to reduce startup friction.
